- The Trump administration has extended a limited reprieve on US technology sales to Huawei, even as questions continue over how broader sanctions effect the Chinese technology giant, CBC News reported.
- In May, the US government blacklisted the sale of Huawei technology in the country, except for a narrow list of products and services.
- That exemption has since expired, but the US Commerce Department extended it for another 90 days, as expected.
- The aim of the extension was to give smaller US internet and wireless firms that rely on the Chinese company time to transition away from their reliance on its products, said US commerce secretary Wilbur Ross.
- Other exports to Huawei officially remain restricted, though it’s unclear how much is in practice.
