The social media giant has introduced a set of initiatives as part of the collaboration, which began in the second quarter of 2021 and will carry on through the remainder of the year.
In a bid to meet Singapore’s growing demand for a skilled digital workforce, Twitter will work with Institutes of Higher Learning (IHL) and government agencies to develop a series of virtual programs designed to introduce current students, recent graduates, and mid-career individuals to digital skills and career opportunities in technology.
In addition, Twitter will provide Singaporeans with free access to Twitter Flight School, a digital marketing education program on marketing essentials. It will also launch career development opportunities tailored to women and mid-career professionals looking to break into the technology sector.
“Digital literacy is a core component of a healthy and safe public conversation and is a core commitment of our philanthropic work at Twitter,” said Amanda Ang, the company’s head of public policy in Singapore.

Twitter has been working with the Singapore government and civil society stakeholders to promote literacy about issues such as managing mental health and combating violent extremism. As of June 2021, nearly 7,000 adults have been educated about online safety tips through Twitter’s partnerships with IHLs and local nonprofit organizations.
The company will also provide “accurate and timely” Covid-19 updates from key government agencies and other credible sources through its Covid-19 live event page and a notification prompt.
