Rebel Foods eyes $100m in revenue in Saudi Arabia expansion

India-based Cloud kitchen operator Rebel Foods said it will be expanding to Saudi Arabia to build a US$100 million food delivery business in the country.

“We will be India’s first foodtech player to enter the Saudi Arabia market. And after Riyadh, we will launch in cities like Jeddah, Dammam, and Khobar,” said Vishal Khithani, CEO of international markets at Rebel Foods.

In the new market, Rebel Foods hopes to operate 60 cloud kitchens by the end of this year and has partnered with Dubai-headquartered cloud kitchen operator KitchenPark and Saudi-based Kitch, which was founded by serial entrepreneur Fahad Al Hokair.

Currently operating more than 450 kitchens, Rebel Foods owns popular brands like Faasos, Behrouz Biryani, and Oven Story Pizza.

Founded in 2011 by Jaydeep Barman and Kallol Banerjee, Rebel Foods currently has raised US$564.3 million in funding, according to data from Crunchbase.

The unicorn entered the Middle East market by opening its first cloud kitchens in the United Arab Emirates in 2021.

Chocolate brand Smoor, one of Rebel Foods’ units, previously told Tech in Asia that it was setting aside US$10 million for a Southeast Asian expansion.
