Ex-Prisoner Planned Wedding on Facebook

Kyle Dias, 21, wanted to marry fiancée Nikki Gallagher, 22, before the plan was thwarted by his imprisonment for robbery earlier this year.

Somehow, he managed to smuggle a mobile phone with wireless connection into HMP Rochester, Kent with free access to Facebook.

And that was how he got the rest of his wedding preparations done.

According to The Sun, he selected his wedding suit, invited his best man and even discussed with Nikki about her new sexy lingerie on the social networking site.

But it was not all smooth-sailing.

He was kept inside for an additional 21 days after being caught having 2 sim cards in his possession. The punishment would have been more severe if his Facebook plot was uncovered during his term in prison.

Kyle gloated: “I had a mobile the whole four months. If warders had bothered to peek at my Facebook page they’d have realized. It made me laugh, strolling past them knowing I was planning my wedding on it. Hearing about Nikki’s wedding underwear brightened up my time inside.”

He added: “Everyone’s got a mobile inside, they get smuggled in or thrown over the fence.” Kyle was freed on June 2 and married on July 30.

Nikki, who is eight weeks pregnant commented, “He did it because he knows how much Facebook means to me. I was really pleased with the way the day turned out. I wanted it all on Facebook.”

Social Media for Warders?

Congrats to Kyle who was able to do all his planning via Facebook undiscovered. But I am sure all the other prisoners currently serving their term wouldn’t be pleased by his whistle-blowing. This would probably give warders a wake up call for being too relaxed on the rules. Perhaps they could start using social media to look out for suspicious activities too – just like how Boston police uses Twitter and Facebook to nab bicycle thieves.

Seems like social media is working for both sides!
