Ex-Foodpanda, Rocket Internet execs’ flexible workspace app expands to Dubai

Deskimo, a Singapore-based workspace startup, has expanded its service to Dubai, with plans to add Abu Dhabi and other cities in the Middle East soon.

Founded last year, Deskimo lists various co-working spaces on its platform and allows users to pay by the minute for each spot. It also supports bookings for meeting rooms and private desks.

In Dubai, the startup has partnered with several workspaces such as Nook, Servcorp, Unbox, myOffice, The Place, and The Executive Center. Aside from Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, the platform is also available in Indonesia and Hong Kong.

Deskimo was established by Foodpanda co-founder Christian Mischler and former Rocket Internet managing director Raphael Cohen. Last year, it raised US$3 million in a seed funding round led by Y Combinator.

According to Mischler, its users currently stay for four hours at a workspace on average, and they use the app two to three times a week. “Most of them use our app to stay productive in between meetings or when they need to get deep work done due to distractions at home,” he added.
