Indonesian Journalists Present Telecommunication Awards

Golden Ring Award

A group of Indonesian journalists from the Forum Komunikasi Wartawan Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telco Media) gathered for an awards ceremony dedicated to the telecommunications industry in the country. This year the event, named the Golden Ring Award 2011 was held for the fourth time and was opened by Tifatul Sembiring, Indonesia’s minister of telecommunications and information.

It is quite interesting to see that all the judging for the awards was done by telecommunications journalists. Indeed, the Golden Ring Award ceremony is designed as an independent awards event involving as many journalists from Indonesia as possible. Their perception becomes an assessment benchmark, reflecting the condition of the telecommunications industry in the country.

Yusuf Mars, Chairman of the Organising Committee explained:

The Golden Ring Award, which is held every year, is a form of appreciation from the journalists who have been specifically covering the telecommunications field. The awards given are also a form of appreciation from the journalists towards the industry’s key people, and is designed to promote the industry.

Several months ago we reviewed a similar event organized by the Indonesian media. These kind of events are aimed at stimulating the telecommunications industry to be more creative and innovative, especially the telco and handset vendors, which are now growing rapidly and in this country.
