Innovation Works’ Buding Start-Up Gets Its Just Desserts, Some A-Round Funding

The Innovation Works-incubated start-up Buding – aka ‘Pudding’ in English – has received A-round financing for its online-to-offline (O2O) services and mobile apps. The funding is reportedly worth “nearly 10 million RMB” (US$1.57 million) from China’s Zero2IPO Group.
Buding’s CEO is Xu Lei, who created the site last winter on the principle of SoLoMo. We’ve looked at Buding’s fast-food coupons app before – and in addition it has made apps for iPhone and Android that give discounts on movie tickets, organise where to eat out, aggregate group-buy deals, and a comprehensive venues listings one as well.
The start-up says it has about 5 million registered users, and is currently China’s largest platform for mobile e-coupons. The site also claims a that its coupons pages have been viewed more than 300 million times.
With its newest app, Buding Movies (pictured above), it’s also offering deals on cinema tickets, which takes it tentatively into the fierce group-buy sector. Thus, with its mix of listings, reviews, and deals, Buding is getting closer to Dianping.com – which some Chinese VCs selected recently as being the most investment-worthy company on the web right now.
