East Ventures Alpha Graduates Its First Batch of Startups

East Ventures Alpha is a 100-day startup accelerator program which was launched back in August by East Ventures. It has just had its demo day at the Jakarta Ventures Night 2012 event in which it graduated its first batch of startups – the same six that we previewed last summer.

The incubator has been showering these six young companies with the best that can be had in the way of seed funding, monthly wages, office space, and – perhaps most importantly of all – invaluable mentorship from the strong mentor list.

This accelerator is interested in investing in very early-stage startups (even just ideas) which have a great team and focus on consumer web and mobile games. But without dismissing any other bright ideas.

Here are the six proud graduates from East Ventures Alpha this week:

  • Promoote: It provides help to find local services in Jakarta (and will expand to other big cities in the future). You can search, compare, and finally book the services you want – from a maid to guitar lessons – without any hassle and with peace of mind.

  • Whappa Games: This game house focuses on developing multiplayer mobile games. Yesterday we looked at its first product, Asylon World on Android, which combines casual RPG (you read that right), gestures, and multiplayer capability.

  • Buzzle: A sort of Bouncity for shopping malls where you can get directory listings, navigation help, event announcements, and rewards from the malls.

  • Red Eclipse: Provides fun and addictive casual online and flash games (which will go mobile as apps in the near future). These are game developers with advanced 3D creation experience, so we can expect some sexy-looking games from them.

  • MacaMoco: A localized Flipboard/Zite-like app with HTML5 technology behind it that aggregates local news content. Plus, it can track your habits and provide personalized reading content.

  • Velmery: This is a fashion-oriented social recommendation service. It gives users an easy way to share their shopping experience. You can scan items, list your favorite things, compare clothing, and ultimately share pictures of your new fashion choices.

Congratulations to all of the first batch of startups from East Ventures Alpha. There are still three of the half-dozen that we need to get deeper into in separate posts, so stay tuned!
