E3 2014: Xbox One launches in Hong Kong, India, Singapore, and Taiwan on September 23, 2014 (UPDATED)
UPDATE 10-06-2014: All pricing for Xbox One standalone consoles added! There is no Korea, sorry. Korean launch date to be revealed later, but it’s definitely this year!
It’s like the marine said in the Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty trailer several years back. It’s about time!
The Xbox One—featuring a 500GB hard drive, a blu-ray player, and built-in wi-fi—will ship in Hong Kong, India, Singapore, and Taiwan on September 23, 2014, with an Xbox One wireless controller and 14 days of Xbox Live Gold in every set.
The Xbox One will cost S$639 ($511) in Singapore, with the Xbox One Kinect priced from S$739 ($591) upwards. The Xbox One console alone will cost upwards of NT$12,980 ($433) in Taiwan, HK$3,380 ($436) in Hong Kong, KRW 498,000 ($490) in Korea, and INR 39,990 ($674) in India. While there is a price for Korea, the console’s launch there has not yet been announced.
Xbox fans (if any left in Asia) will also be able to enjoy the Xbox Kinect, TV on the Xbox One, specially-designed Xbox One apps like Internet Explorer, Skype, Twitch, and Machinima, any and all updates to Xbox Live, as well as game recording and uploads.
The Gold Rush program we reported on is also still going strong; purchasing a 12-month Xbox Live Gold subscription before the end of this month will entitle you to digital Xbox One editions of Ryse: Son of Rome, and Killer Instinct Ultra Edition add-ons worth $100.
