Thailand-based ecommerce enabler aCommerce has laid off an undisclosed number of employees, citing a shifting business landscape as one of the factors behind the decision.
“Our primary goal is to secure a healthy and profitable future for the company, which in turn protects the livelihoods of the majority of our workforce and allows us to deliver value to our customers and clients,” aCommerce said in a statement.
The company said that the layoffs affected staff at the corporate and regional levels, but not the local market teams.
Founded in 2013, aCommerce provides clients with end-to-end ecommerce solutions, such as those for omnichannel retail, performance marketing, and channel management. It operates in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines.
In December 2021, the company announced its IPO plans. At the time, it reportedly wanted to sell 1.6 billion shares – about 35% of its share capital – to raise between US$250 million and US$300 million.
However, the plan was delayed in 2022 due to global economic challenges and local market conditions.
