The time for you to use the Ingots you have collected has come! According to the recent announcement on the official Dota 2 blog, for the next 24 hours, players can fight the Year Beast and earn rewards as part of the Dota 2‘s New Bloom Festival. At the time of posting, we still have 17 hours to face the Year Beast. I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to question whether or not I needed a full 6 hours of sleep.
Like Wraith Night, fighting the Year Beast takes place in an entirely different map. In this game mode, you may only use the Ingots you have previously collected to purchase in-game items. Each Ingot is equal to 40 gold. The goal is to deal as much damage to the Year Beast as you can so that you move up the ranking system during the game, as well as receive more Jade Tokens, which you can exchange for rewards. Players who dealt damage in the top 10% will be rewarded with a Redhoof Courier, while those who make it to the top 1% will receive a Jadehoof Courier. In a recent update, the Jadehoof Courier may also be acquired in the Bloom Harvest and Bloom Bounty Jade Token rewards.
If you’re a little hesitant on wasting your Ingots right off the bat, you can try your hand by practicing first. You can do this by clicking on the “Play” tab and then click Fight the Beast, which will ask you whether you would like to fight the beast straight away or just enter practice mode where you will be given a certain amount of gold to spend, but will receive no rewards.
There has been no announcement as to whether the Year Beast will arrive again within the week or month. But if we consider the duration for previous events such as Diretide and the cancelled Frostivus, Wraith Night, it seems likely to assume that the Year Beast will return, as the Spring Event doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon.
