Do You Have A Brand You Trust?

Every year (since 2001), Reader’s Digest readers of different countries and languages would vote for their most trusted brands. The brands are grouped into 20 product categories that are commonly used by consumers of the surveyed countries.

Before I present some of the Winning brands of 2009, here are some interesting facts found out through the survey on trust in professions and the Internet.

  • Brits have more trust in football players than journalists
  • Only 19% of Czechs trust their taxi drivers
  • In Germany 66% have lost their trust in advertising
  • More than 50% of Russians have lost trust in the United Nations
  • Trust in journalists is lowest in the UK (14%)
  • Russians have more trust in farmers and priests than in doctors
  • Fire fighters and airline pilots are trusted the most
  • Romanians trust the EU more than Brits
  • German have lost trust in international companies (-70%)
  • Trust in the Internet is increasing in CEER
  • Just 23% of Russians trust their police
  • 96% of Portuguese don’t trust their politicians
Mobile Handset Brand

In the Mobile Handset category, Nokia wins every year, with 93% of vote in Finland. I personally love and trust my blackberry. Who’s with me?

PC Brand

HP won in 9 out of 16 countries in the PC category. It irks me when Mac doesn’t get the recognition it deserves!>

Camera Brand

The Camera category didn’t surprise me. Olympus has some real loyal consumers in Czech Republic even with Canon dominating the rest of the markets.

Skincare Brand

Nivea wins everywhere for skincare! Maybe it’s time for me to change my skincare brand.
