The tie-up will give Ninja Van Myanmar’s business and retail partners access to NearMe’s e-payments platform. Meanwhile, NearMe can tap into the logistics startup’s network and introduce its digital payments platform to social media sellers, businesses, and enterprises.

NearMe was launched in 2015 by Singapore-based payments platform 2C2P in partnership with agriculture-focused firm Myanma Awba Group and FMCG company Pahtama Group.

The company offers a platform that aggregates retail and digital goods and services and enables e-payment acceptance.

Through the platform, retailers can sell goods, collect bill payments, and accept payments, while their customers can shop and pay for goods and services like utility bills and loans. It claims that it currently has over 50,000 retailer partners, and despite Covid-19, saw an increasing transaction volume.

Launched in 2014, Singapore-based Ninja Van started its business operations in Myanmar in 2017. In May, the company secured US$279 million in its series D round led by European logistics major GeoPost.

According to a report by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company, the digital payments business across Southeast Asia is expected to see a 3% rise to US$620 billion by the end of this year and is on track to hit US$1.2 trillion by 2025.
