Discussion: who's your favorite Dota 2 hero?

If you’re a Dota 2 player, you share a common interest with some of us: you love the game. But of course, loving the game doesn’t mean loving the same heroes! Who’s your favorite to play?

Xairylle: I went from Enchantress to Vengeful Spirit to Crystal Maiden to Juggernaut to Clinkz but after much debate with my inner self, I’d say my favorite hero is Lina. I know she has a bad attack animation and is a very situational pick, but I’m willing to overlook that because Laguna Blade is just so rewarding.

Personality-wise, I’d say I can relate to Lina because I’m a hot-headed person. I guess that’s another reason why I like Laguna Blade. It’s like all your anger goes into one flash of white lightning and “BAM!”. You can also use it to hunt down heroes if you’ve farmed enough for an Aghanim’s Scepter.

Mary-Anne: I love Axe, particularly in Warcraft III Dota. Mostly because he’s so good for just charging into the fray, which is what I love doing best. I’m a player with tunnel vision and poor awareness in general, so having passives that proc automatically is great. My favorite thing to do is buff Axe up with HP-giving items and letting loose in a huge skirmish. Oh, and when you’re feeling sneaky, it’s also possible to be a pain in the ass with that DoT spell he has.

Of course, the last time I actually properly played Axe was ten years ago…

Iain: Venomancer, because he looks like the basilisk from Chamber of Secrets! I realise that isn’t the best answer, but unfortunately you’re talking to a Dota 2 noob with absolutely zero skill or aptitude for the game. In fact I can best be described as a punchbag with speed and dexterity of a drunken sloth. For these reasons Venomancer is perfect for me, I can hide in a corner shooting acid from a comfortable distance and then run whenever someone gets too close.

In fact, due to Venomancer’s awesome ability to setup Plague Wards, I can have a collection of little green acid spewers to do my dirty work for me. There’s nothing better than getting kills for literally doing nothing. I may be a noob, but I am a smart noob with a Harry Potter monster on my side.
