In brief: Didi considers layoffs amid China’s ride-hailing crackdown
Didi Chuxing is contemplating layoffs amid tighter regulations on the ride-hailing industry and China’s slowing economic growth. According to a person briefed on the matter, headcount at some departments may be cut by up to 20 percent, and will most likely be in departments like marketing and human resources.
This comes as China cracks down on ride-hailing firms, following the death of two Didi passengers in separate incidents last year. In December, Didi announced it would be restructuring to combine teams that had overlapping functions and focus on safety.
