Singapore Promotes Healthy Eating Through iPhone App

healthy-chef-singaporeTo promote healthy eating, Singapore’s Health Promotion Board recently launched ‘Healthy Chef,’ an iPhone app that provides healthy cooking recipes for Singaporeans. The app provides over 70 recipes created by renowned chefs in Singapore with choices over Chinese, Malay, Indian or Western cuisines. A user can search for recipes based on calorie level and save them within their shopping list for future reference. For Mac users, you can even sync your diary content to your laptop’s calendar.

Developed by the folks at Codigo(check out this iPad magazine too), Healthy Chef on iPhone is simple to use and provides a convenient list of ingredients with step-by-step preparation methods. Perhaps, the app could use more photos to help users visualize what they’re about to prepare or have. It would motivate more users to take action.

As far as I have witnessed, Singapore is pretty much an iPhone nation which explains why the app is on iOS (It’s available on Windows 7 phone, though) From personal observation, iPhone is ubiquitous in the country but I can’t seem to find any report that tells me the exact number of iPhone/iPod touch users, so feel free to fill me in if you have the statistics. You can download the Healthy Chef here [iTunes link]. Kudos to Health Promotion Board for its mobile app initiative.
