Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) WWDC keynote in San Francisco brought a number of new developments, but there were a few that will be particularly interesting for users in China.
The most notable update perhaps is that iOS 6 finally brings Chinese support to the Siri personal assistant application. There’s a video of a Siri Chinese demo over over on Mic Gadget if you’d like a preview. Siri also gets support for other new languages, including Korean, Mandarin for Taiwan, and Cantonese. Users can now do local searches in Chinese as well.
Apple senior vice president of software engineering, Craig Federighi, outlined new Chinese features in Mountain Lion which is coming next month, including:
- support for Baidu as a search provider
- an improved input method for Chinese
- a new Chinese dictionary
- eight new fonts
- sharing capability to Sina Weibo microblog
- video sharing to Youku and Tudou
- easier mail set up with china’s top email clients

Baidu is a built-in option in Safari, and you can share videos directly to Youku and Tudou. You can also post to Sina Weibo from Camera, Photos, Maps, Safari, and Game Center.
