Masturbation meets virtual reality with the Cybersex Cup

Humanity’s first great inventor was not the person who invented fire – it was the first man or woman who realized they could pleasure themselves. Although it’s a free and accessible pastime, humans have undoubtedly spent trillions of dollars to get a little help or inspiration in this hobby.

The dawn of virtual reality is going to bring a whole new dimension to that kink.

One new option for all the men out there who are one-handed Lotharios is the BKK Cybersex Cup. “VR will change the world,” says Enzo Kwan, who came up with the new gadget that incorporates interactive virtual sex which looks like some sort of computer game. “People will no more be satisfied with a flat screen. VR in the sex industry will bring people an immersive experience – a better masturbation and cybersex experience.”

It’s not on sale yet. The startup’s Indiegogo campaign is set to go live on November 17, the team tells Tech in Asia (update: the startup has changed that from November 10). The BKK Cybersex Cup will cost US$150 during crowdfunding.

Virtual girlfriend

The gizmo comes in two parts – a masturbation cup paired with a VR helmet, although the helmet bit is basically just housing your phone, so I guess you could just swap it for anything that holds your phone near your eyes. “The cup has a motion sensor and it has Bluetooth. When the user strokes, the gyro gets the speed signal and transfers to the phone and into the mobile application to control the making love speed of the girl inside the app.”

A “mostion” sensor? Er…

Clearly, it’s not rocket science. The cup part is basically a smart Fleshlight. Quite a few startups have done this before. Just a few weeks ago, the eJaculator virtual reality blowjob machine blew past its Indiegogo goal. Back in 2014 there was the Autoblow 2. As VR becomes more mainstream, we’re gonna see to even more hardware startups get to grips with the porn industry. Not everyone is going the VR angle, though. A smart, wearable vibrator for women called Vibease is focusing on moods and stories.

Major companies are getting involved too. Pornhub’s VR-powered Twerking Butt is proof of that.

The Cybersex Cup comes with self-developed content – and that’s where the team’s 3D expertise comes in. They’ve created virtual porn and a customizable 3D girlfriend to go with the device. The girlfriend can be modified and dressed up in a variety of virtual outfits.
