Reddit names ex-Coinbase exec as APAC vice president

Reddit, the US-based news and content giant, has appointed Durgesh Kaushik to serve as vice president of Asia-Pacific and emerging markets growth.

Based in Singapore, Kaushik previously served as senior director of market expansion for Coinbase for APAC, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and the Americas. He also previously led Snapchat creator Snap’s expansion into India as its managing director for the country and for South Asia as a whole.

At Reddit, Kaushik will be responsible for setting the company’s strategy for expanding communities, growing its user base, and scouting for international expansion opportunities in emerging markets globally.

According to data from Statista, in 2020, most Reddit traffic came from the US at 222.6 million users. Sitting in second place was Australia with 17.7 million users, which was followed by India with 14.8 million users and the Philippines with 9.16 million users. Singapore was in 10th place, logging 4.6 million users.

“I believe Reddit is unique in its ability to connect people via real communities and quality conversations that are not happening anywhere else online,” Kaushik commented in a statement.
