India’s edutech startup MeetUniv announced today that it raised US$1 million from US-based Peesh Venture Capital. Last year, the company raised funding from Times Group’s fund TLabs.

MeetUniv allows users to search and apply for higher education abroad. The one-year-old startup lists 3,000 colleges and universities as well as 40,000 undergraduate and postgraduate courses from USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore, and so on. It has facilitated 75,000 video calls with universities. The firm has also developed a CRM for universities.

With this round, MeetUniv also gets access to Peesh Venture Capital’s limited partners, most of which are stakeholders of some of the large universities in the US. This is Peesh Venture’s debut investment from its maiden US$50 million fund, which focuses on early stage startups.

The startup is also developing social tools for connecting with universities and counselling via video.

“Partnering with Peesh Venture Capital opens the doors for students in India looking to study in USA, a most sought after education destination,” says Nitin Kapoor, co-founder of MeetUniv.

MeetUniv competes with Indian Angel Network-backed IndiaCollegeSearch. Another startup in the space is StupidSid, developer of Yocket, which connects students planning to pursue higher education abroad with others like them.
