Luqman Adris, co-founder and CEO of Malaysia-headquartered social commerce startup Avana, died on Wednesday, the company announced.

It is understood from a former colleague and investor that Adris had been suffering from a severe illness.
Adris founded Avana in 2016, together with Yienyee Soh. Its main offering is a tool that helps businesses automate transaction processes on social media and instant messaging platforms.
The company has raised a total of around US$3 million in early-stage funding rounds backed by Gobi Partners, Axiata, TH Capital, and Cradle Seed Ventures.
Last year, Avana was in the market to raise a US$15 million series A round to grow its Indonesia operation and expand into other markets in the region. It had also signed a joint venture agreement with Taiwan-listed firm Chailease to roll out its business in the country.
