ChuaN talks about iG, Newbee, and his future in this emotional interview

It’s no secret that Invictus Gaming (iG) has been underperforming, but it seems the last straw was drawn in Starladder IX where a sloppy game made them lose against Russian team Empire. Many are quick to blame their current carry Luo ‘Luo’ Yinqi and while he did deliver a very disappointing performance, this interview with Wong Hock ‘ChuaN’ Chuan by onGamers reveals that the team has a bigger problem aside from Luo being inexperienced.

This internal conflict in iG is good proof that just because you put five skilled players together, doesn’t necessarily mean that it is a strong team. Because Dota 2 is a team game, it is very important that all the members are on the same page. Based on the interview, this is what iG is lacking right now—a single goal. According to Chuan, he has a different view of the game and of tournaments compared to the rest of his team, which then affects communication and cooperation. Should iG officially change their rosters, their chances of getting a direct qualifier for The International 2014 (TI4) are very unlikely to none.

With all the rumors flying around, this interview, and iG’s recent performance, it won’t be surprising if Chuan does actually decide to leave iG. In fact, there has been reports that Chuan and Zeng ‘Faith’ Hongda have already left for Team Newbee. If you may recall, Chuan and Faith were originally supposed to be part of Newbee, but both chose to stay with iG instead. This is confirmed by Chuan in the interview, saying he declined Newbee’s very generous offer to “follow his heart” and play for iG.
