These aren’t the usual names that come up when people talk about China tech – most usually stop at Jack Ma or Lei Jun. The 24 entrepreneurs on this list are rising stars. Some are just starting out while others have already had a smash-hit or two; a handful have already IPO’d and may be plotting to launch something new. Either way, they’re ones to watch.
We’ve attached Tech in Asia’s own data so you can see what kind of stage the company is at, but this list is not about numbers and it’s inherently subjective. Rather, it’s about interesting people who’ve created cool stuff – and it’s mixed with my personal appreciation or fascination in what they’ve built.

Blued is a gay flirting and community app for men in China.
This is Baoli’s first proper startup, and he’s confident that it has arrived at the right time for gay people and culture in China. “It is better now than in the past, and I believe it will have a good future,” he tells Tech in Asia.
