The race to become Southeast Asia’s super app

Go-Jek and Grab each started out offering ride-hailing services. But both companies claim that their objective was always much more farsighted than simply helping people travel from A to B.

The goal for both Grab and Go-Jek is to become the “super app” that Southeast Asians use to manage their everyday lives.

In addition to developing their own digital payments platforms, both companies have moved into on-demand services that cover everything from logistics to groceries. More recently, they’ve begun to provide loans and insurance.

With billions of dollars in funding and major investors backing them, the race between Go-Jek and Grab is on.
