Israeli femtech to enter India, SG after new raise

Illumigyn, an Israel-based women’s health startup, raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Yozma Group Korea and Ubicom Holdings Japan. With the fresh investment, the company has raised a total of US$33 million to date.

Founded by serial entrepreneur Ran Poliakine and engineer Lior Greenstein in 2012, Illumigyn has created a gynecology endoscope that digitally records images of a vagina and saves it in a connected cloud platform.

In a statement, the company said its tech can produce high-resolution images that capture more accurate pap smears. Illumigyn also said the endoscope equipment has been cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration and can be used by any trained caregiver, so doctors and specialists can perform examinations remotely.

The company plans to use the fresh money for research and expansion to other countries such as India, Singapore, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, and the US.
