India’s interior design market is expected to hit US$38.2 million in value by 2027, propelled by surging real estate demand, rapid urbanization, and rising incomes. But for the designers doing the work, transforming their creative visions into tangible structures is often an inefficient slog.
Traditional methods involve coordination with numerous contractors and other vendors through basic tools like Microsoft Excel. This often leads to project delays, compromised quality, and substantial cost overruns.
Bidding to streamline the design-to-build process is India-based Boxs, a B2B manufacturing platform for interior designers and architects.

The startup provides customizable design modules and an instant pricing engine to help designers estimate costs. It also automates manufacturing and assembly, reducing construction timelines and enabling designers to focus on creativity.
The company has raised US$1.6 million in its seed round led by Surge, Peak XV’s rapid scale-up program. Boxs will use the new funds to develop its products and expand its manufacturing capabilities.
“Boxs was started with a simple idea – what if the broken and inefficient build phase could be replaced with a simple IKEA-like experience?” said co-founder Vikram Venkatesan.
Along with Venkatesan, Boxs was founded by Satheesh Ramdass. While Ramdass worked as a tech lead at companies such as Oracle, Microsoft, and Vegrow, Venkatesan has led product and engineering teams at DE Shaw, Thoughtworks, and Ally.io.
