Car maintenance startup in China gets $10M funding as on-demand services explode

Car maintenance startup Mocar has secured US$10 million series A funding, says Chinese tech blog 36Kr. CDH Investments led the investment, with seed stage contributor Fosun also throwing in some cash.

The news comes amidst an explosion in online, on-demand services in China, covering everything from laundry to groceries, and massage therapists to manicurists.

Mocar sends out mechanics to do light repairs and thorough maintenance in three Chinese cities. The startup is looking into offline partnerships with auto repair shops in order to cover weightier repairs as well. Aside from serving the general public, it’s also tying up with major companies to service fleet vehicles (such as big banks and insurance companies) and employees’ cars (including deals with Alibaba and Xiaomi).
