After the BlackBerry Playbook official launch in North America on April 19, the tablet was also introduced in Indonesia just yesterday. Research In Motion (RIM) displayed the Playbook product in a specially designed bus stating “Meet The Playbook” at the Senayan East Parking Lot, Bung Karno Sports Complex in Jakarta. A similar event was also held at Philippines two weeks ago as seen in the picture below.

Although it is unclear when the Playbook will be launched in Indonesia, it is obvious that RIM values the Indonesian market highly. RIM has gained huge success in Indonesia through its BlackBerry mobile handset, and is hoping to replicate the same popularity with its Playbook.
Gregory Wade, RIM’s managing director for Southeast Asia said, “Our research shows that Indonesia is a market that is becoming tablet savvy and is very interested in consuming multimedia tablets.” The video below would give you a look of the PlayBook:
The PlayBook is designed to provide excellent web experiences with open web standards support, and also features the ‘Bridge’ application which allows Playbook to connect with BlackBerry smartphones using a secured bluetooth connection. Given that Indonesian consumers are more familiar with Blackberry, the Playbook might have a chance to dominate the market. RIM’s PlayBook is yet another competitor for Apple’s iPad in the already crowded Indonesian tablet market.
