Founded in 2020 by Ashab Alkahfi, Tubagus Syailendra, and Ahmad Syaifulloh, Chickin provides an IoT and data analytics system for broiler chicken production. Its tech allows for livestock monitoring, cage management, and climate control.
The company also offers financial aid and additional sales channels to farmers through a data-driven B2B matchmaking process.
Without stating specifics, the startup said its revenue has grown by over 50x in the past year. It has served more than 150 farms across the country with a total chicken population of over 2.6 million.
Chickin will use the new funds for business growth, tech improvement, hiring, and partner acquisition.
“Agriculture is one of the sectors that are less digitalized, yet it is strategically important for our GDP. This sector has enormous potential given how staple chicken is to every Indonesian’s daily consumption,” said Melisa Irene, partner at East Ventures Indonesia.
According to Ken Research, Indonesia’s agritech industry is set to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 31% from 2022 to 2026 thanks in part to increases in internet penetration, foreign investment, and government initiatives.
