More company updates
- L Catterton poured US$25 million in this round. Anjana Sasidharan, the firm’s head of growth investments in Asia, will be joining Zenyum’s board.
- Zenyum plans to use the fresh funds to accelerate its expansion in Asia, deepen its range of products, and develop its technology.
- The dental startup currently operates in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam, Thailand, and Taiwan.
- Zenyum says its revenue increased 4x in 2020. According to data from VentureCap Insights, the company’s revenue in the financial year ended April 2019 stood at US$4.37 million, with an operating loss of US$5.18 million. The fourfold rise last year would mean that Zenyum’s revenue should be around US$17.5 million. Tech in Asia has tried to confirm this with Zenyum, but the company said it doesn’t disclose revenue numbers and that any official filings are for its Singapore entity only.
- According to Zenyum CEO Julian Artope, dental care and its surrounding products has a double-digit billion dollars opportunity in Southeast Asia.
- The startup was part of the first cohort of Sequoia Capital India’s Surge accelerator program in April 2019. Sequoia India also co-led the startup’s US$13.6 million series A round in November 2019.
