Hello reader,
I was once disciplined enough to lose 20 kilograms of weight over a six-month period. It was a lot of work – I ran 5 kilometers five times and went to the gym once per week, and I stuck to a pretty strict diet.
That experience is something I keep thinking about as I now try (and largely fail) to lose weight again. I know I can do it because I’ve done it before, but it was also really difficult and I don’t have anywhere near the same amount of time now.
But today is what matters, not past glories. While I’ve had to keep reminding myself of that, the Indonesian startups in today’s premium piece probably don’t need to – they’ve all raised new rounds of funding in recent weeks and months.
Today we look at:
- The Indonesian startups closing funding rounds recently
- The successful series A round of a Philippine-based cloud kitchen firm
- Other newsy highlights such as incoming investments in Vietnam and India, as well as SoundCloud’s acquisition of a Singaporean AI company

Nobody gonna slow me down, oh no
I got to keep on moving
Matthew Wilder’s 1983 hit song might be about moving ahead with life and not letting past relationships or failures hold you back, but it might as well be a metaphor for the tech and startup scene. The space is always about working to find that next tech breakthrough or – as in the case of the Indonesian startups in today’s premium article – locking down that next round of funding.
- Variety, baby: The startups that have been getting funding are diverse – in the top 20 alone, there are firms in a variety of industries such as energy efficiency, fintech, and logistics, among others.
-
Don’t stop me now: With the list ordered by how recently the startups were funded, you’d think that the one in last place received funding a long time ago, right? Well, it closed its latest round in February of this year. Things are really moving fast in the Indonesian tech scene.
-
A rising industry: Marketplace, food, and lending startups feature prominently on the list, but the top startup belongs to none of these verticals. Can you guess what the company does?
