Capital A has appointed Colin Currie, its president for commercial, to also serve as CEO of AirAsia Digital. John Cheing, Capital A’s head of investments, has also been named CFO of AirAsia Digital and AirAsia Super App.
The changes are effective March 1, according to a statement.
AirAsia Digital houses the operations of its logistics firm Teleport, fintech arm BigPay, and the AirAsia Super App – which offers food and grocery deliveries, ride-hailing, and express shipping services, among others.
The super app currently has 51 million users and 40 million downloads, Currie said. With over 15 lines of products and services, he said there’s “much more room for growth” for AirAsia Digital as it aims to become one of the industry leaders in Southeast Asia and beyond.
Before AirAsia, Currie was with Adidas for over 16 years, serving as managing director for Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Greater China.

The leadership changes follow Teleport’s recent US$50 million funding round in late 2022. The super app was also recently launched in Indonesia, with an initial focus on the country’s travel hotspot of Bali.
