Amanda Woo, CEO of Airasia Super App, said entering Indonesia may look like a “Herculean” feat, with regional players such as Grab and GoTo already having tight grips in the country’s super app market.
However, she added that Airasia has “a unique proposition in terms of what we are offering, and a different approach on how we will penetrate the Indonesian market.”
Other services available in the app include flight booking and online duty-free shopping.
Airasia also offers food delivery services in the country, which are currently available in the Tangerang and Jakarta areas. The feature offers self-pickups and on-demand delivery through a partnership with Gojek’s GoSend.
The announcement follows Capital A reporting a 161% year-on-year growth in monthly active users to 9.5 million in the third quarter of 2022. The number of transactions on the app also saw a 1,953% year-on-year surge for the quarter.
