Garena raises money from high-profile investors

Nick Nash, group president of Garena at Tech in Asia Singapore Conference 2015
Garena, a Southeast Asian internet company valued at US$3.75 billion, announced a new round of funding of an undisclosed amount. What mattered more though were the names attached to the round.
There’s SeaTown Holdings, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore’s state fund Temasek Holdings, GDP Venture, a fund founded by Martin Hartono, the son of Indonesia’s richest man, and Mistletoe, the investment firm of Taizo Son, the founder of multi-billion dollar gaming company GungHo Entertainment.
Garena had earlier raised a major US$170 million round this year. It has a revenue of over US$300 million in 2015, which had a compound annual growth rate of 95 percent.
