Prices and launch dates for the iPhone SE and iPad Pro in Asia

Today at a press event in California, Apple announced exactly the two new devices everyone has been expecting: the 4-inch iPhone SE and the 9.7-inch iPad Pro.

While both devices sport smaller screens than the Apple’s flagships they’re based on (the iPhone 6S and iPad Pro, respectively), they still pack some serious processing punch. The iPhone SE, for example, sports the same A9 chip as the iPhone 6S, the same TouchID security features, and the same 12-megapixel, 4K-video-shooting camera.

Orders for the iPhone SE begin on March 21, with the device officially launching on the 31st. Apple says it’ll be available in four Asian countries – China, Singapore, Japan, and Hong Kong – at launch, with more countries joining that list by the end of May. The company didn’t list launch countries for the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, but they’re probably the same. Orders for that begin March 24 and it launches on March 31.

Here’s how the pricing for the new devices break down (for the purposes of easy comparison, all currencies have been converted to USD according to the current market rate as of Monday at 2:30 pm EDT):

(Note: I’ve only priced the iPad Pro’s wifi-only version, because not every country is getting a cellular version at launch).

At the press event, Apple also announced some cool environmental news for Asia and a price reduction on the Apple watch, which will now start at US$299.
