NUS Entrepreneurship Society wins Spirit of Enterprise Award

NES

I feel greatly honoured to have this opportunity to acknowledge the Spirit of Enterprise (SOE)’s Friends of Enterprise (Public Service) Award bestowed upon the National University of Singapore Entrepreneurship Society (NES).
Past recipients of this award include SPRING Singapore and Hong Leong Foundation. As part of the first ever student organising committee for Start-Up@Singapore – a national business plan competition – and alumni of NES, I am proud of the society.

Having worked on the promotion of entrepreneurship in Singapore for a few years now, I am heartened to realize that our efforts have not gone to waste and that NES has been recognized. Though getting an award was not an aim of the society, it is certainly a great bonus and incentive for my juniors to keep up the good work. However, awards and official recognition are just meant to encourage more organizations and people to pass on the spirit of entrepreneurship and this is what NES will continue to do. Tangibles such as these should not be the only gauge of one’s contribution to entrepreneurship, but it is the greater goal of fostering the entrepreneurial spirit in our young that we should seek to strive for and pit ourselves against.

Congrats, NES! Let’s continue to inspire the next batch of leaders.
