SGInnovate-backed AI startup shutters Singapore unit

Debt-ridden Taiger, a Singapore-based AI startup, is closing its offices in the city-state and liquidating the entity, reported The Business Times.

As a result of the liquidation, the startup has laid off 80 employees. The company said it is offering assistance in the job-hunting process to those who have been terminated.

Apart from Singapore, Taiger also has offices in Dubai, Madrid, and Mexico City, as per its Linkedin page. It counts Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Citigroup, and AIA Group as its global clients.

In 2019, Taiger raised US$25 million in 2019 from TPG Capital’s PacificBridge Asset Management and the Singapore government’s SGInnovate, among others, at a valuation of US$110 million.
