Mitra Bukalapak, the online-to-offline (O2O) arm of Indonesia-based ecommerce firm Bukalapak, has rolled out a standalone bookkeeping and debt recording app called BukuMitra for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The service was previously a part of Mitra Bukalapak.

BukuMitra allows businesses such as mom-and-pop kiosks (warungs), phone credit stores, food and beverage firms, laundry services, and social commerce platforms to have digital bookkeeping and debt recording systems.
The app also provides a media feature, which enables users to create posters, catalogs, business cards, and banners to spread information about their businesses to their peers through digital platforms like messaging apps and social media.
“The Mitra Bukalapak app has been helping 8.7 million MSMEs. However, these growing businesses are still being managed by a traditional bookkeeping method using a notebook or a piece of paper. This method certainly has risks,” said Teddy Oetomo, president of Bukalapak.
This is what triggered the creation of BukuMitra. The feature has already been used by more than 300,000 users to do bookkeeping and debt recording in a secure manner.

All bookkeeping records of BukuMitra users will be stored on the cloud, decreasing the risk of their data being compromised in case their phones get damaged or lost.
