Techventure Opens Opportunities for Budding Startups in Singapore

techventure-2013

We can’t deny that a number of good startups are coming from Singapore. The scene keeps on growing. Recently we saw the newest batch of startups that graduated from Singapore-based incubator JFDI. Now, Singapore’s Techventure aims to give more startups an opportunity to network with some of the biggest venture capitalists in the region and will run a two-day conference commencing on September 25.

Pitching ideas

In 2011, Singtel Innovate Exchange searched for the top 50 apps in Asia as part of Techventure. This time, Techventure 2013 will serve as a major networking platform for both Singapore-based startups and the global investment community and industry leaders. Startups will meet venture capitalists, private fund managers, angel investors, incubators, and tech entrepreneurs that can help boost their ideas, or even supply much-needed seed funding. Apart from that, there’ll be a startup contest at the event where ideas will be pitched before a panel of VCs and technology investors.

Asian tech industry insights

Among the VCs and investors at this event will be Singaporean Jenny Lee, Forbes’s 2013 top female venture capitalist in the world; Bill Tai, angel investor in social media application Tweetdeck; Kevin Hale, partner at Y combinator; and Edith Yeung, head of international business for Dolphin Browser.

The Techventure conference will also focus on industry insights, social trends driving the industry today, and new technologies. These leaders in the tech industry we mentioned above will also share industry insights in the region. So this event is an opportunity for budding startups to learn what it takes to make it big in Singapore and in Asia.
