Forkast is an online news platform that covers blockchain and emerging technologies operating within the business, economy, and finance industries. It was founded in 2018 by former Bloomberg TV anchor Angie Lau and Sarah Chang, a former McKinsey & Company consultant.
The startup said it has previously worked with companies such as the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the World Economic Forum, IBM, and Ernst & Young, among others.
The Hong Kong-based startup will use the new funds to make new hires and invest in content creation technologies that help with engagement, among others.
The development comes amid a boom in usage of cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, which went up by more than 300% since May 2020.
“As many Fortune 500 companies and mass market retail investors are allocating into crypto, it is more important than ever to build a credible source of deep industry insights in a language accessible to the average layman,” said Remington Ong, a partner at Fenbushi Capital.
