Blibli.com Leaves Beta, Adds Security Features to Attract Shoppers
Just two months after the soft launch of Blibli.com it has left beta testing and launched fully. It comes with added security features to allay the concerns of Indonesian consumers about using e-commerce sites.
This new-comer in the Indonesian e-commerce battle tries to attract online customers by providing more convenient payment gateways. Not only is it supported by two of the largest banks in the country, but also protects online payment transactions with security features such as Verisign. It seems that it’s one of the company’s strategies to boost online transactions on its website.
In order to confirm this we contacted Blibli to ask about its security features and if they were enough to get Indonesian consumers into the habit of shopping online. Blibli didn’t really give us a greatly detailed answer – the staffer said only that a Verisign certificate guarantees the security of transactions, and that they’ll educate users in being careful when making online payments. The Blibli rep said the site was secure irrespective of a user’s transaction volume on the site.

Well, the website’s “easy, fun, and free” tag-line looks very promising along with its new security features. But the battle in the e-commerce ground will not be easily won with players like Kaskus, Plasa, and Tokopedia around.
Of course, we cannot forget LivingSocial, which recently boosted its presence in Indonesia by effectively buying up DealKeren.
After all, only start-ups who execute their ideas really well will survive in the end.
