Blade & Soul’s Season 2 expansion goes live in South Korea

NCSoft’s shiny MMORPG em>Blade & Soul has made a big splash both in Korea and in China where it entered open beta late last year. And now the game’s first big expansion, which is called “Season 2: Hell Island”, has finally hit Korean servers. Here’s the trailer for the expansion, in case you missed it a couple weeks ago:

The update includes a new storyline, new dialogue, a new clan system (which includes clan creation, clan battles, and clan logos), and even new clothes. New clothes! Are you ready for a fashion show? There’s no sound in this video, so don’t worry, your speakers aren’t broken.

Anyway, while Korean players are busy enjoying the update, Chinese players are wondering when they can expect a Chinese localized version, and the rest of us are wondering when we can expect Blade & Soul at all in English. Back in 2012, NCSoft said an English-language version was coming in 2014, but in early December, NCSoft wrote on its US site:

“We are making progress and plan to reveal more details about the game in the coming year.”

That would certainly seem to imply that while we might get more information about the English version of the game this year, we shouldn’t be expecting the game itself to be released anytime soon. It sounds like all of the Season 2 fun will be restricted to Korea for the time being.
