Xiaomi MiPad lands tomorrow in Singapore and Malaysia

Xiaomi’s Android tablet, the MiPad, is set to launch tomorrow in Singapore and Malaysia. The MiPad’s arrival is a little late, a full seven months after it launched in mainland China.

The Xiaomi MiPad is priced at S$299 (US$220) in Singapore, and RM 799 (US$225) in Malaysia. The customary online flash sale begins at 12 noon in both countries with an inevitably limited supply available in each batch. Some bad news: it’s only offered in white and 16GB for now, meaning that the choice of six colors and the option for 64GB is missing. But it does support microSD cards for extra storage.

The MiPad has a 7.9-inch screen that makes it similar in size to an iPad Mini. When I reviewed the tablet last summer I really liked the sharp screen and its all-round performance, but that plastic rear makes it a rather slippy and unappealing thing to hold for any duration.
