Best Buy Focusing on Mobile Products in Return to China

best buy back in china

Last September, we reported that Best Buy would be coming back to China. And now there is official word.

Best Buy will be in China as it announced last week, but not quite as a full store. Rather, it will follow what it calls a store-within-a-store concept (SWAS) selling just mobile phones and related products.

It will have the Best Buy Mobile branded stores within 14 Five Star stores throughout Nanjing this coming summer. Five Star is a wholly-funded subsidiary of Best Buy also focusing on gadgets and application retailers. Nicolas Wang, the CEO of Five Star, commented in the statement:

The mobile phone market in China is growing fast and has tremendous potential. Best Buy Mobile will bring a new shopping experience to our customers in China, combining the rich experience of the Best Buy and Carphone Warehouse teams with the local knowledge of the Five Star team.
