IEM Shenzhen Hearthstone Day 2 preview: Hong Kong players on the rise!

Day 1 ended with an upset as a relatively unknown player from Hong Kong snatched the first place for himself in group C. However, both group D and a few matches from group C were rescheduled to be played at the very beggining of the second day due to technical issues at the venue.

Starting with group A, there was little to no surprises, however what might sadden the fans from south-east Asia is the fact the the representant of Phillipines: WaningMoon fell out of the tournament as he lost the tiebreaker against China’s XiaoSoul. Therefore the two players coming out of the first group are C9’s Strifecro and China’s XiaoSoul.

Group B was almost dominated by the Dreamhack Summer champion: RDU, however JackyChan managed to get himself the second place, which made him go the round of eight as the second Hong Kong player.

Group C had to be postponed due to the lack of time, therefore its last two matches will be played on the second day, however Hong Kong’s Jeanno already managed to secure himself first place.

What to expect of day 2? First and foremost, we will have the entire group D with the main star of this tournament: Amaz. We will most likely see all three Hong Kong players advancing to the round of eight at the end of the group stage as he is one of the two favorites, alongside RDU, to win the tournament.

Once that’s over, the tournament will immediately proceed to quarter-finals and they will definitely be crazy, however we still have to wait for the releasement of the official bracket.

As a friendly reminder, Day 2 begins at 1:15 PM CST, 2:15 PM KST, 7:15 AM CET and 10:15 PM PDT (June 16!) and will be live broadcasted at IEM official site.
