Surge leads $5.25m round in AI-powered video platform

Gan.ai, a startup helping brands mass-produce personalized videos for marketing campaigns, has secured US$5.25 million in a seed round led by Surge, a scale-up program led by Sequoia Capital.
Emergent Ventures and other angel investors also took part in the round.

Founded in March 2021, the firm provides brands with a generative AI-powered video creation platform. It said that brands only need to record a video once and add keywords to a script, and then the software will generate multiple customized videos.
The US- and India-based company also offers features such as personalized landing pages and integration with popular business platforms like Shopify, Calendly, Stripe, Salesforce, and HubSpot.
Gan.ai’s customer base includes brands such as Samsung, Zomato, Vivo, and Mobile Premier League.

“Imagine a food delivery company being able to send a personalized video from a brand ambassador, addressing its customer by name and how they enjoyed items in their last order, or a clinic reminding a patient to book a follow-up appointment,” said Gan.ai founder Suvrat Bhooshan, who emphasized that this hyper-personalization of content would lead to “higher conversion rates.”
