Founded in 2019, Mangkokku offers professional chef-level dishes served in rice bowls. It currently operates 50 branches – consisting of cloud kitchens and brick-and-mortar restaurants – in Greater Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Malang, Semarang, and Solo. It aims to have 100 outlets by the end of this year and to launch another 100 next year.
In a statement, the company said that its sales have surged by 6x since it raised US$2 million in seed funding in 2020. The number of its stores also tripled during the same period, now serving more than 4 million portions of food annually.
The firm aims to launch a mobile app by the third quarter of 2022, which will provide ordering and loyalty features. It also has launched a holding company called Nusantara Culinary Group, to help its expansion to other culinary products such as beverages and packaged sambal.
Mangkokku was established by Randy Kartadinata, who has also founded other food and beverage businesses; Arnold Poernomo, a judge at cooking reality show MasterChef Indonesia; and Gibran Rakabuming and Kaesang Pangarep, sons of Indonesian president Joko Widodo.
