India funding round-up: BigBasket, OneAssist, Scripbox, Allygrow, Green India Building Systems, Sheroes

Over US$5 billion of venture capital funding flowed into Indian startups last year. This year, the deals are coming thicker and faster. So we thought it would be useful to start a daily digest of startup funding in India.

Here’s today’s funding round-up:

BigBasket

E-grocer BigBasket raised US$50 million from Bessemer Venture Partners, according to a report by The Economic Times citing unidentified sources. Hari Menon, Vipul Parekh, V S Ramesh, V S Sudhakar, and Abhinay Choudhari co-founded BigBasket in 2011. The Bangalore-based startup specializes in hyperlocal online grocery deliveries across eight Indian cities.

OneAssist

Mumbai-based OneAssist raised US$7.5 million in series B funding from Assurant, along with existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners and Sequoia Capital. Gaga Maini and Subrat Pani launched the startup in 2011. It provides tools for credit/debit card theft and fraud.

Scripbox

Fintech startup Scripbox raised US$2.5 million in series A funding from Accel Partners and a group of angels. Bangalore-based Scripbox is a financial startup that helps its customers invest in mutual funds. It was co-founded in 2012 by Sanjiv Singhal and Atul Shinghal.

Allygrow

Allygrow, an engineering services provider, raised US$20 million from Zodius Technology Fund. The Pune-based startup was founded by Prashant Kamat earlier this year.

Green India Building Systems

Clean-tech startup Green India Building Systems and Services raised undisclosed amount of series A funding from ResponsAbility Ventures. Mandar Kaprekar and Arun Shenoy co-founded it in 2011. The Mumbai-based firm provides energy-efficient and environmentally responsible solutions.

Sheroes

Sheroes, a jobs and careers community for women, raised INR 50 million (US$772,000) from Quintillion Media, 500 Startups, and a group of angels. The startup was founded in 2014 by Sairee Chahal.
