1. Kakatu | Indonesia (Techlist Profile)
First released in December 2014, Kakatu is an app for smartphones and tablets that lets parents limit access to apps and monitor their children’s use of them. It also has features to inform and educate parents about the best ways to ensure a healthy parent-child-gadget relationship.
2. Fril | Japan (Techlist Profile)
Fril is an ‘Etsy’-like flea market app developed by Japan startup Fablic, that targeted Japanese women in need of a peer-to-peer (P2P) sales platform to sell their clothing or accessories.
3. UrbanClap | India (Techlist Profile)
Indian services marketplace, UrbanClap, does the usual tasks like providing electricians, plumbers, and painters. But it can also provide professional services like yoga and fitness trainers, nutritionists, and music teachers, besides salon and beauty services at home. All professionals on the site are screened through stringent background checks and undergo a quality check process to ensure high standards.
4. Pura | Taiwan (Techlist Profile)
Developed by Taiwanese startup Noacare, Pura is a water fountain for cats that connects with a companion app to ensure your cats are drinking plenty. It’s now up for crowdfunding on Indiegogo.
5. Qlue | Indonesia (Techlist Profile)
Qlue is a mobile app that a local startup launched last December, which became part of Jakarta’s government-endorsed smart city initiative. It recently released a new suite of transportation features. For instance, on top of a Google Maps layer, users can now see the city’s public bus transportation system, Transjakarta, operating in real-time. All stops are marked in, and labeled buses can be seen traversing their routes.
Beyond offering assistance for transportation needs, the app is intended for citizen reporting. Users can create complaints by snapping a photo, tagging a location, and adding a comment to it.
6. Elanic | India (Techlist Profile)
Elanic is a C2C marketplace that helps the user sell or buy pre-owned clothes, bags, shoes and accessories. The startup claims to simplify and standardize transactions in India’s less-than-developed used fashion marketplace.
