1. Waveit | Israel (Startup Profile)
Waveit app is a platform for discovering crowdsourced home videos, memes, and gifs. If you like what you see, you swipe right. Otherwise you swipe left so the app know this content is not matched to your preferences.
2. Finomena | India
Finomena lends small amounts of money to students and other millennials to make online purchases, collecting over 20,000 pieces of information – everything from public information on social networks to buying patterns on phone top-up websites – to figure out eligibility, interest rates, and the size of a loan.
3. Helion | Indonesia (Startup Profile)
Helion is basically a low-tech version of Google’s Loon. Developed by a team of former students from Indonesia’s Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), the Helion floats its balloons at a maximum height of a couple of hundred meters. The balloons are tethered, not free floating, and carry solar-powered electronic equipment that enables them to distribute a wifi signal to the surrounding area.
4. BeautifulYears | India (Startup Profile)
BeautifulYears is an online portal for people to discuss aging issues, discover caregiving services in their areas, and shop for gadgets that help the elderly with day-to-day activities.
5. LoveCycles | India
Built by Plackal, a three-year-old Bangalore-based startup that has several consumer-oriented mobile apps to its credit, LoveCycles helps women keep track of their periods. The app offers a period-tracking calendar where users can keep tabs of symptoms, moods, and “intimate” days.
6. Neeuro | Singapore (Startup Profile)
Singaporean startup Neeuro has developed a headband that can read your brainwaves. It’s called the Neeuro Senzeband and it’s basically a Fitbit for your mind.
